John Powell Allen, 1849, and May Myers Allen, 1860
 
                     John Powell Allen was born in Lorain County, Ohio, December 21, 1849. He married May Myers on May 28, 1881 in Defiance, Ohio, where she was
                     from. John worked as a millwright in steel mills most of his adult life. In 1900, the family was living in Ullin, Pulaski, Illinois. His occupation was
                     stated as mechanic. There were eleven household members in a rented house, including son Leroy, 18, son Roland, 15, son William, 13, son Harry, 10,
                     daughter Nellie, 4, and daughter Inez, 2. There were also three male boarders who were mill workers, presumably at the same mill that John worked in.
                     In 1910 the family was living in Fostoria, Hancock County, Ohio, in a house at 231 Adams Street. John died in 1923 in Fostoria. The newspaper obituary
                     said he was working as a millwright for a large manufacturing company in Michigan, but that he was home in Fostoria ill with the flu. May died in 1939,
                     also in Fostoria. John and May are buried in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.
